Greenwich Police recently caught up with a suspect wanted for an April 29th Larceny of Motor Vehicle, 3rd offense. Marcus Dwight Colon, 30, of Stamford was in Stamford Superior Court on August 23 for a scheduled court appearance. After a lengthy investigation of the stolen vehicle, Greenwich Police obtained an active arrest warrant for Mr. Colon, who is in custody at the Hartford Correctional Center and was being transported by the Dept of Corrections to court. When he arrived in court, Colon's custody was turned over to investigative officers. After he was processed he was turned over to State Judicial Marshals for same day arraignment. Mr. Colon has several outstanding cases pending in Stamford Superior Court. He was arrested by State Police Troop G out of Bridgeport in October of 2023 and charged with Larceny of Motor Vehicle 2nd offense, a Class D Felony, Interfering with an Officer/Resisting, Reckless Endangerment 2, Evading Responsibility, Reckless Driving, Improper Passing and Failure to Drive in Proper Lane. He was arrested on August 6, 2024 by Stamford Police and charged with Larceny of Motor Vehicle 1st offense a Class E Felony, Interfering with Officer/Resisting, and Criminal Mischief 1st degree, which is a Class D Felony, as well as Evading Responsibility and Engaging Police in Pursuit. On the same date he was charged by Stamford Police with Payment Card Theft, a Class D Felony, for a past incident that took place on May 3, 2024. With each arrest, court set bond has increased. Bond for the incident in Greenwich was set at $50,000. Colon was not released from custody. He is due back in court on October 21, 2024. Greenwich Police have warned residents that the suspects check for open unlocked car doors. If the keys are inside the thief steals the car. Residents are urged to remove the keys from their vehicles and lock the doors. Keep the keys inside your home, not in the garage or a car parked in the garage. When shopping, take the keys and lock the doors, even if running into a store for a quick errand. The thieves operating in Greenwich and the surrounding towns look for easy targets.
