David C Robbins, 86

David Clark Robbins, 86 years old of Palm Beach Gardens FL, passed away on February 4, after a lengthy Illness. David (Davie) was born on July 19, 1937, in Greenwich to David and Marion Robbins. He was predeceased by two brothers Bill Robbins and Peter Robbins. Davie was a graduate of Iona University, Williams College of Banking and Dartmouth Tuck School of Business. Davie was very proud of his service in the United States Navy. Davie was very active in many local organizations, and well known in the Greenwich for helping others, He was a Past Chief of the Volunteer Hose & Chemical Fire Company in Central Greenwich. He was also honored to be name the Grand Marshal of the Greenwich St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 1989. Upon his retirement Davie moved to Jupiter Florida and eventually settling in Plam Beach Gardens. He was employed for many years at the PGA National resort, as a starter. Davie was proud of his Greenwich roots and a good friend to many. His sense of humor and skill at “busting chops” was legendary. He was honored as the Greenwich Harpoon Club man of the year(AKA “Fall Guy”) in the early 1982, a tribute well earned, Davie was a longtime NY Giant Football season ticket holder, a regular in section 335 seat # 1. He was able to see his team win super bowls in person, and slump back to the old Giant ways. Davie was survived by his wife Carol Robbins, daughters Jenifer Short and Kathleen Nightingale and stepdaughters Nicole Bailey and Juile Londergan. And grandchildren Ryan, Henry and Reagan Nightingale, and step grandchildren Lauren Fanning, Jarret and Cameron Londergan, Reed and Ross Bailey and Alex Bailey. There will be a graveside burial service Saturday August 31 at St. Mary’s Cemetery on North Street at 11:00 am, with a luncheon to follow.
