Wayne David Olmstead, 67, passed away peacefully on August 10th 2024. He was surrounded by his family. Wayne was born in Greenwich CT on May 22, 1957, to Barbara and David Olmstead.
Wayne attended Riverside Elementary School, Eastern Middle School, Greenwich High School, and Southern Connecticut University, living his whole life in Greenwich. Wayne worked at the Aquarian Water company for over 30 years and was happily retired in 2022.
Wayne is survived by his son Taylor, his sister Linda, and four brothers, Terry, Bryan, Tim, and Patrick.
Wayne is predeceased by his wife Allison, whom he loved dearly.
Wayne lived all of his life in Greenwich and loved his town. Wayne had a commanding presence, and was someone you immediately noticed when he walked in the room standing at a height of 6’7”. He was very outgoing, loved to have fun, and make people laugh. He was a friend to all who knew him or came across his path.
Wayne was a fiercely devoted family man, who loved his wife, son, family, and friends very much.
Wayne had a passion for sports and was a great athlete. He competed in any and all sports over the years, standing out in track and field, hockey, basketball and of course softball. Wayne loved to coach and loved to help young athletes grow. Over the years he coached and won various championships in Greenwich as a youth football and baseball coach.
Wayne will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 178 Greenwich Ave, Greenwich, on Thursday, August 22 at 10:30am.
Following the Service there will be a celebration of life.
