The Alliance Française of Greenwich will raise the French flag at Greenwich Town Hall on Friday, July 12th at 9:00 am in celebration of Bastille Day.
(The official date is Sunday, July 14 but Greenwich Town Hall is closed).
Bastille Day is the French National Holiday celebrating the storming of the Bastille – a military fortress and prison – on July 14, 1789 in an uprising that ushered in the French Revolution.
AFG President, Renée Ketcham will honor the longstanding relationship between France and the United States that dates back to the American Revolution.
First Selectman Fred Camillo will read a proclamation and the French and American national anthems will be sung around the flagpole.
Students Riona McKersie and Indira Brou will be recognized for their respective projects and awards honoring the bicentennial of the Marquis de Lafayette's stop in Greenwich on his " Farewell Tour" of the U.S.
Wynn McDaniel from the Horseneck Daughters of the American Revolution will highlight the upcoming festivities in Greenwich on August 19 around the Marquis de Lafayette's Farewell Tour.
